When I got to town I gave you a call
I'm not sure what I expected at all
But when you answered I didn't want to talk to you

I didn't believe I would catch you at home
but I can't trust my mind when I'm alone
So I just called to hear what you could do

And made the drive without a second thought

I asked if you'd come hear me sing
but you said that you had to get up in the morning
and you would try to call me just the same

So I walked around til a quarter to two
I walked my mind to the middle of you
I wasn't surprised when the phone call never came
